Classical Trumpet Artist: John Foster is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading exponents of performance on historical trumpets, and is the Artistic Director of both the Queensland Baroque Orchestra and the Australian Baroque Brass. John also regularly conducts the Sydney-based Orchestra of St. James’. John was a member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 2001-2013. John has appeared as a soloist at festivals and concert series worldwide and has performed as a soloist with many leading orchestras and ensembles, including the Sydney Symphony, Sydney Philharmonia, Queensland Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, Norwich Baroque (United Kingdom), among others. John also performed as a soloist with Belgium's leading baroque orchestra, 'Il Fundamento'. He has made several solo recordings as well as extensive recordings for radio, television, and film. Since 2015, John has been the director of the Australasian Trumpet Academy, which annually draws students and guest artists from around the world to Australia. John Foster has also served on the ‘board of directors’ of the International Trumpet Guild. Commercial Trumpet Artist: John Foster is also an extremely versatile musician, embracing all genres of music. It is this fact that has seen him perform with such notable artists as Luciano Pavarotti, Olivia Newtown-John, George Benson, James Morrison, Ben Folds, Manhattan Transfer, Burt Bacharach, Lalo Schifrin, John Farnham, Kate Cebrano, The Whitlams, and Russell Morris, among many other famous artists. Mr. Foster is also in demand as a recording artist, having recorded several solo albums in the classical idiom as well as recording extensively for television, radio, and films, incorporating contemporary music, jazz, rock, and pop music.
